Bailey Brothers   PUBLICITY PHOTOGRAPH OF THIS BLUEGRASS DUO PERFORMING OVER RADIO STATION WWVA.  Publisher: Wheeling, West Virginia Radio Station WWVA 1953. Original edition This 10" x 8" glossy photo shows the Bailey Brothers in white dinner jackets and string ties, playing mandolin and guitar, standing behind a WWVA microphone. Book condition: Fine. Written on the back in pencil: "1953 / Radio Corral / Charley & Danny / Bailey." Born in Happy Valley, Tennessee, the Bailey Brothers became extremely popular radio singers in the late 1940s and early 1950s. By 1953 when this photograph was taken, they were headlining in the WWVA Wheeling Jamboree. It is said that they were then a more popular bluegrass group than Bill Monroe and his boys.

Pulp paper uniformly yellowed as usual; covers slightly creased and quite intact. 12.5" x 9.5" Pictorial Paper Covers. Book condition: Very Good. Written in light ink at the top of the back cover: "Bought for a buck / Paris -- 19 June 1945, " most likely by a US soldier, ten months to the day after the Liberation of Paris. We are unable to locate any other copies of this rare production by the co-founders of The Hot Club of France.
