This is a well-illustrated history of the Renfro Valley Barn Dance, first heard from Cincinnati Music Hall over radio station WLW in 1937. By 1939, a big barn had been built in Renfro Valley, Kentucky, to accommodate the popular country group, as shown in this souvenir book. Also described and shown is the Renfro Valley Settlement. Lyrics and music to a few songs are present as well. 10.5" x 7.75" The Renfro Valley family of performers included: Slim Miller, Lily May Ledford, The Coon Creek Girls, A'nt Idy Harper, Uncle Juney, Little Clifford, Judy Dell, Dwight Butcher, The Mountain Rangers, The Crusaders, Homer and Jethro, The Randolph Sisters, Ricca Hughes, Jerry Byrd, Harmonica Bill Russell, The Pineridge Boys, Granny Harper, Red Foley, Whitey Ford, and a few others.

Prior owner's code in red and small piece of old tape on cover. 11" x 8.5" Roy Barnes was born at Powell, Wyoming. He formed a five-piece band called The Wyoming Range Riders and went on the air in 1934 over KGHL, Billings, Montana. In 1941, when the town of Powell's first radio station, KPOW, went on the air, Barnes began a 50-year association with them including his popular early-morning show, heard faithfully by rural folks all over Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado, and as far away as Texas and Ohio. Roy and The Wyoming Range Riders also performed around the Big Horn Basin for Saturday Night Jamboree Dances. In 2003, Barnes was inducted into The Wyoming Broadcasters As Hall of Fame.

Collins, Joanne and others DICK JONES FAN CLUB MAGAZINE: The Only Official Dick Jones Fan Club--7 issues, Winter 1956-57 - October 1959. Westlake, Ohio Joanne Collins 1956-1959 First Editions Staplebound Wraps Very Good Seven volumes, 127pp in all, stencilled, with pastel covers. A different 5" x 4" photo of Dick Jones is mounted on each cover (one lacking). Laid in is a two-page supplement dated June 11, 1957, along with a colored photo of Jones as Buffalo Bill, Jr. The masthead lists Joanne Collins as President & Editor, along with other volunteers, Canadian representatives, and honorary members. 11" x 8.5" Jones was born in 1927. By age four, he was billed as "The World's Youngest Trick Rider and Trick Roper." By six, he was working in the Hoot Gibson's rodeo. Jones appeared as a bit player in several of the Hal Roach "Our Gang" and "Little Rascals" short features. At age 13, he was the voice of Pinocchio in Disney's film by that name. At 15, he took over the role of Henry Aldrich on that hit radio show. Gene Autry cast Jones in westerns produced by Autry's Flying-A Pictures company. In the early 1950s, he starred as a sidekick to "The Range Rider," and by 1955 Gene Autry gave Dick Jones his own series, "Buffalo Bill, Jr.," which ran for 40 episodes on NBC. Jones was one of the few western actors who did his own stunt work. ~~ The fan club magazines offered here include letters from Dick along with many different articles extolling his personality, accomplishments, and career.
