On page two, we learn that a Newport Town Meeting addressed the topic of relief for the suffering of Ireland and Scotland, while Gen. Tom Thumb recently earned $75,000 in England. The naval committee of Congress made available the U.S. frigate Macedonian to transport contributions for the relief of Ireland, while a 445-pound 20-year-old woman with a 72-inch bust is on exhibit in England, and a Rev. J. Doblin of Hull, England launched an Anti-Stay and Corset Society to protect females from the effects of tight lacing. A multitude of classified ads and notices for goods, services, and curatives occupy pages three and four.

Washington DC 24th Congress, House of Representatives First Edition Very Good Broadside, printed on rag paper: heading in bold type, text in three columns; original folds. 19" x 11.75" Rep. Lawrence (a Whig, and later the founder of the town of Lawrence, Massachusetts) here argues against Free Trade, speaks out for American business & labor, and accurately predicts the Panic of 1837. The comments of other members of the House Ways & Means Committee are reported as well. The financial panic of 1837 was caused by unbounded speculation and executive experiments on finances, under the presidency of Andrew Jackson. This panic grew out of Jackson's assumption that government was selling land for state bank notes of questionable value. Martin Van Buren inherited the mess when he took office in March of 1837, and the financial panic gave way to a five-year depression,

They have a decided "GI" tone and offer local unit news, sports and events, profiles of GIs in the Philippine Islands, etc. The mastheads list editor, artists, columnists, etc., with the statement: "Bamboo Bulletin receives CNS material." On the outside fold, each issue is addressed to a woman in Pennsylvania. The final issue is stamped "Let's Get the Troops Home" and "Get the Men Home from Leyte."

The cast of characters in the drama, and the synopsis of scenes, are on page three. A column on page one, written by "Leonard & Henry," promotes this new advertising medium.
