Included are a full-page tribute by Oliver Wendell Holmes, and long paragraphs of promotional text translated into German, Spanish and French for the convenience of immigrants. [Company not in Romaine.] The Kampfe brothers immigrated to the United States early in the1870s and began manufacturing the Star safety razor in 1875. In May, 1880 Frederick and Otto applied for a patent on “new and useful Improvements in Safety-Razors,” apparently the first use of the term “safety razor."
