1894. Original manuscript. On letterhead of Pastor's Study, First Presbyterian Church, Freeport, Ill. Addressed to Mr. D.S. Bobb, Dakota, Ill. One page, octavo. In part: "...On account of being obliged to supply an operator and to rent a steriopticon, I am not able to give the lecture on my bicyce ride through England for less than $25....I have appointments for ten or twelve lectures...." [Dr. Hill was born in Illinois in 1861, and was graduated at Williams College and McCormick Seminary. He served churches in Chicago and Freeport, Illinois, as well as in Portland, Oregon. In 1918, he became General Secretary of the Presbyterian College & Education Board. The addressee, Dr. D.B. Bobb, emigrated from Pennsylvania to Illinois with his parents in 1845, was graduated from Chicago Medical College and Linn University, and moved to Dakota, IL in 1867, built up a fine practice, fathered two children including Dwight, &c. (Tilden, History of Stephenson County, Illinois, 1880).].
