Rusty Adams toured as Koko with Grand Ole Opry stars, Webb Pierce and Earnest Tubb. He grew up around Sarasota, Florida, the summer home of Barnum and Bailey Circus, where he learned to dress as a clown and did jokes on country shows. Adams wrote a song with Jimmy Day, titled "Birds Fly South," recorded by Willie Nelson.
