Merrimac, MA: 1883. Original manuscripts. Three receipts: (1) Heath Bros., Carpenters-Contractors-Builders, January 12, 1883, for a walnut shelf and brackets. (2) Bailey Sargent, written on the GAR Post's own decorative letterhead, Sept. 7th, 1883, for expenses of William Fry Concert Co. (3) Alex Smart, Dec. 19, 1890, for Littles Express, care of Horse, Story & Waterhouse bill, &c. Approx. 6" x 8" Very Good. Item #036603

Merrimac, Massachusetts, was incorporated in 1876. The Colonel C. R. Mudge Post 114, of the Grand Army of the Republic, had been organized December 20, 1869. The Colonel C. R. Mudge Ladies' Relief Corps, No. 24, was organized in December, 1882. [Hurd, History of Essex County, 1888].
