Holland (1819-1881), later known by his pseudonym "Timothy Titcomb," earned his M.D. at Berkshire Medical College, tried practicing medicine at Springfield, Massachusetts, did some writing on the side, and eventually gave up medicine in favor of editing and writing, &c. His works include a "History of Western Massachusetts," "Titcomb's Letters to Young People," three novels, three books of poetry, etc.
