One card containing two albumen images of the pews, choir loft, and sanctuary of Christ Church on Second Street, north of Market in Philadelphia. Printed on recto: "James Cremer, Photographer and Publisher, 18 South Eighth Street, Philadelphia." On the verso is a brief history of the Church, founded in 1695 and rebuilt in 1727, along with a list of the rectors since the founding. 4" x 7" to fit into a stereoscope for viewing. Very Good. James Cremer (1821-1893), a British immigrant, settled in Philadelphia, learned photography, and "by 1872 he was Philadelphia's largest publisher of stereographic views. A prolific photographer, Cremer made both portraits and landscapes" [J. Paul Getty Museum).
