The ship's position at noon on August 31 was "In Gulf of Alaska near Cape St. Elias and 1257 miles from Seattle....Should pass Cape Spencer about 9 A.M., September 1st. Will enter Icy Straits at 9:30 A.M., and pass Muir Inlet (Muir Glacier) about 11 A.M., then through Chatham Straits, Lynn Canal and Chilcoot Inlet and should arrive in Skagway about 4 P.M...."
