"Dude" Martin, born John Steven McSwain in California in 1915, began his career in high school as leader of The Nevada Nite Herders. By 1939, his western-swing band had grown to 10 members, renamed Dude Martin's Roundup Gang. Martin is a member of the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame.
