1857 HANDWRITTEN LETTER (ALS) TO DEAR MAGGIE FROM ELISE[?]. DATELINED PHILADELPHIA, JULY 1, 1857.

Philadelphia: 1857. Original manuscript. Two pages, sepia ink in a legible hand. The writer is thinking of her sister during "this dull racing season" and hopes that she has found good help in the kitchen. "Eliza came one day and swept the second story, cleaned the paint in the nursery and ballroom," etc. More complaints about household help, etc. "Yesterday we had a stranger all day ironing." Owing to bad weather, "I have not been out of the house except to meeting," etc. Is sending a jumping rope for the children, "thinking they need exercise," &c. 8" x 5" Very Good. Item #BOOKS012970I
